The waters off the coast of California are like a superhighway of various whale species traveling north and south between cold arctic waters and the warmer waters of baja California..  At various locations and at different times of year, you can spot humpbacks, orcas, and even blue whales.  But the most commonly sighted is the California Gray Whale, some of which travel 12,000 miles in one round trip migration. Nearly every town up and down the coast offers whale watching trips of various lengths from one or two hour excursions to all day adventures.

Inspired by gray whales breaching the water against the backdrop of sunset, this stranded color work design features just three elements – water, sky, and whales.
