Amidst a landscape of grasslands, forest, wetlands, and alpine tundra in Colorado lies a 30 square mile dune field with the tallest dunes in North America.  Visitors to this amazing place can hike, stargaze, sand sled, observe wildlife, go 4-wheel driving, and even splash in a creek.  But one of the most intriguing aspects of this park is seeing it from a distance where most of the various ecosystems come into view at once. This beanie captures that view from the trees and shrubbery, to the massive dunes, and up to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains with just a glimpse of seasonal Medano Creek at the base of the dunes.  Randomly spaced cable stitches mimic the giant everchanging ridges and valleys of the sand.
