A summer spent in Maryland means a summer spent relaxing on beaches, visiting historic sites, strolling along boardwalks, camping and hiking, sailing, exploring spectacular museums, and most likely indulging in something tasty seasoned with Old Bay. From the shores of Assateague Island in the east to the forests and farmlands in the west, and all the history and adventure in between, there’s no shortage of interesting and exciting things to see and do at any time of year. But with a summer visit, one delightful activity is almost certain: at least one sighting of the state bird and state flower! In the bright colors of summer itself, this design features a patch of wild Black-eyed Susans followed by a band of duplicate stitched Orioles nestled between more flowers.
