SoCal Surf Beanie Pattern
Ahhhhh…the iconic images of surfing in Southern California: waves, sand, woody wagons, bikinis, surfboards, wetsuits, bonfires, parties on the beach, and palm trees.  It all sounds like classic SoCal Surf.  But these images actually represent 2 distinct views of surfing.  The first is the more “reality based” side of surfing – skill, practice, sports, and competitions.  The other side is more “fantasy based” - think Frankie and Annette movies and the Beach Boys.  Whichever way you look at SoCal Surf Culture, it’s certain to include fun and sun!
This classic striped beanie design was inspired by the surf culture of the 50s and 60s.  Following a ribbing in the color of sand, a rectangular pattern like the panels of a woody wagon comes next.  Various widths of stripes inspired by the desaturated colors of vintage surfboards complete the look.
 
Size:
One size fits an average adult size head. (Approx. 19" - 22")

    • One size.
    • Pattern includes instructions and color coded chart.
    • Yarn needed: worsted weight, approximately 200 yds total. 
    • Needles: 16" circular needles in U.S. size 5 and  7.  Double pointed needles in U.S. size 7 (or size needed for gauge).
    • Other supplies: Stitch markers and tapestry needle. 
    • Worked in the round from the bottom up
